What is red light therapy?

It is a process of emitting specific light wavelengths through the skin to stimulate your body’s natural healing and regeneration processes. Here at Light Family Acupuncture, we use an FDA approved Class II Medical Device, called PlatinumLED, combined with acupuncture, cupping/guasha, and a vibration plate for truly amazing results!

What to expect during a Red Light Acupuncture treatment?

Melissa will create a customized treatment plan according to your goals. You will receive a full body Acupuncture treatment with targeted red light therapy for the duration of the treatment. She then will use cupping or gua sha to enhance the effects of the red-light therapy. To end the treatment, you can use our vibration plate for low-impact movement.You will go home with acupressure, herbal, and nutritional recommendations too! The total treatment should last around 60 minutes.

Red light therapy is thought to work by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria increasing their ATP (energy) production. With more energy, other cells can do their jobs more efficiently, such as repairing tissue damage, boosting new cell growth and enhancing cellular renewal.
You will begin to see results after the first treatment. For best, long-lasting results we recommend 10 sessions per area used within 8-12 weeks.
A vibration plate is an exercise machine that sends high-speed vibrations through all of the muscles in your body. Vibration plates work by stimulating your muscles at a much higher rate than usual. Normally, your muscles contract and relax once or twice a second, but the multi-directional vibrations of a vibration plate transmit energy to your body which forces your muscles to contract and relax between 30 and 50 times a second.
